 The main entertainment duties were left to Larry and I, but on occasion we had special functions that featured celebrities.
If I recall, this was a special space launch with many publicity options for celebrities. We usually had a full house, especially on weekends. Our partner had made arrangements for George Plimpton to come by the club, have dinner and have a small press conference describing his involvement with the Space Program.
Of course, this was a great publicity opportunity for the club as well as Larry & Sandi.
It is hard to co-ordinate these things, when you have an entourage of people with George Plimpton, a house full of people ready to dance and party, and two entertainers trying to make them happy.
When we were ready for the interview, George was not. When George was ready, we were on stage. It was not fair to our audience to start and stop the music, just so we could have our picture taken with George.
Finally, we took a five minute break, ran into the restaurant and said hello. Quick photo and we were back on stage.
The next thing we knew….George was gone. (We guessed he was just waiting to get his picture made with us.)
